As with most of my maritime work, this draws inspiration from Cape Cod and the Islands, but the scene could really be anywhere (well, ok, probably not Oklahoma or Nebraska). What I was doing here was working with a combination of knife and brush to make interesting wave effects. And then I needed storm clouds, because what are waves without storm clouds?
